Diamonds in the Ruff Rescue MO is a foster-based rescue. Rather than
using a central facility to house dogs, we rely solely on foster homes. This
determines how many dogs can be rescued. Dogs come from shelters,
surrendered by owners, or could be roaming and are homeless.
Dogs are rescued from all backgrounds and stages of their lives. We know
there are loving people that can be fosters for those dogs who may have
endured a difficult past such as abuse, cruelty, neglect, under socialization,
etc. As a foster, you have the chance and opportunity to gain a dogs trust,
show them human touch and love perhaps for the first time, provide an
environment for them to feel safe, and watch them transform before your
eyes.
Shelters and rescues often look to foster those dogs who may have endured a difficult past such as abuse, cruelty, neglect, under socialization, etc. As a foster, you have the chance and opportunity to gain a dogs trust, show them human touch and love, perhaps for the first time, provide an environment for them to feel safe, and watch them transform before your eyes.
If you have existing pets, introducing a dog can be a great experience for
them as a companion and to help socialization of both dogs! Children can
benefit from fostering as a way to introduce responsibility, selflessness, a
way to educate about animals, and a great way to "test" the idea of a
permanent dog. Children often find peace, safety and trust that nurture
their self esteem.
Fellow fosters from the rescue often can help guide you through the
experience, answer questions, and may even become your friends! It is a
quick way to find a community of people who have like passions.
When the rescue finds a home for your foster, there’s a rewarding feeling
you saved a life, helped them experience love and helped with any
behavioral challenges they had. Although difficult, find a perfect match for
your foster is the best!
Humans who love dogs can be tagged as a different breed.
They stand at the cusp of an ocean. Reach inward and open their hearts. Allow the waves to come, to crash, aware that the tide will recede.
The sun will set sooner. Night will come. But when it does, stars will shine down in a million pieces, unleashing sparkling remnants of a journey will-lived.
Once upon a time I gave my heart, and my soul grew richer for it.
